Alcostop Privacy Policy

Data stored by Alcostop

Alcohol entries, costs, notes, saved drinks, savings baselines, cravings, symptoms, and reminder preferences are stored locally on the iPhone. The local database uses iOS file protection and is excluded from device and iCloud backups. Alcostop does not transmit this information to its developer or to third parties.

Apple Health

Apple Health integration is optional. If the user grants permission, Alcostop writes only the occurrence time and Australian standard-drink amount of alcohol entries to Apple Health. Alcostop does not request permission to read Health data. Costs, notes, saved drinks, baselines, cravings, and symptoms are not written to Apple Health.

Health access is controlled through Apple’s system settings. Revoking access or deleting local Alcostop data does not automatically remove samples already saved to Apple Health; those samples can be managed in the Health app.

Notifications

Reminder choices and schedules are stored on the device. Reminder notifications use discreet wording and do not include alcohol, symptom, or financial details on the lock screen.

Retention and deletion

Local data remains on the iPhone until the user deletes it in Alcostop or deletes the app. Because the database is excluded from backups, local records are not restored after deletion or reinstallation. Apple Health retains any samples written there according to the user’s Health settings and actions.
